In addition, every Wednesday night (until August 26th) we’re going to set up shop from 5:30-7:30 in the Island Realty parking lot to serve Lowcountry Boil out of our Hamby Traveling Kitchen. We recommend pre-ordering this meal option, as we can only accommodate a limited number of walk-up orders. Stop by and celebrate summer with this Southern classic.

As a longstanding caterer to the Charleston area, this partnership is a great opportunity to show our Southern heritage to visitors of the area. Most of all, we love that our cuisine brings people together and this opportunity is exactly that. At the end of the day, we hope guests will spend their vacation the right way, relaxing.

Real Hamby Weddings: Laura & Tripp

Our inbox just got a whole lot prettier thanks to photographer, Elisabeth Millay. She recently shared photos with us from a rehearsal dinner we catered back in March. The dinner took place at Society Hall with 70 of the couple’s closest friends and relatives.

Guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres prior to the sit down dinner.  Small bites like our Thai Cucumber ‘Spi’ Roll with Chili Lime Vinaigrette and Cheddar and Bacon Grit Cakes were among the selections. After taking their seats, the guests enjoyed a refined menu featuring Lamb en Chemise, Parisian Potatoes and English Pea Ravioli that complimented the sophisticated setting. Along with the menu, Hamby Event Producer, Cacky Bastian, coordinated the elegant tableware through Snyder Rentals.

The guests finished up the evening by devouring our Praline Cups with Fresh Berries & White Chocolate Mousse. The perfect dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth! See below for images from the lovely affair. Our best wishes to the couple, Laura & Tripp.

Slice of Life: Summertime BBQ

Classic American BBQ is always a popular choice for any Summertime event. People love it! As Dotty Griffith states in her book, Celebrating Barbeque, “If Congress decided to declare a national dish, barbecue should win by acclamation.” We totally agree!

While barbeque is usually suited for a casual affair, by no means it is limited to a family picnic. This simple southern food is a popular way to celebrate graduations, birthdays, weddings and other special events with you closest friends, family and neighbors. In fact, barbeque is the fastest growing catered wedding reception food in the United States.

Along with our popular Carolina pulled pork buffet station, which is usually paired with our creamy mac and cheese and mini corn muffins, we wanted to share with you some of our most popular summer party menu items.

Slider Station

The perfect option for someone looking to offer variety to their guests. This station includes mini cheeseburgers, pulled pork and fried chicken sliders, served with housemate sea salt chips.

Fresh Fruit

Our Watermelon Cubes with fresh mozzarella and housemade basil oil offer a refreshing, bite-size option. And our Hamby Signature Farm Stand provides an assortment of strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, dried apricots and a variety of cheeses. For a sweet treat, try our Apple Tarte Tartin or  Seasonal Fruit Cobbler with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

If you want to give your guests something that they will remember the day after your event, we have some new signature Summer menu items.  Try our new S’mores Bites, Burrata with Heriloom Tomato Mélange or Grilled Asparagus Tips wrapped in Crisp Prosciutto for an unexpected twist to your menu.

Ultimately, Hamby loves the opportunity to provide memorable food to showcase the active Summer event schedule in Charleston.  Contact us today and we’ll create a seasonal menu for your next event or gathering.
