The WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards® 2016 recognizes the top five percent of wedding professionals in the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. The esteemed awards are given to the top local wedding vendors in more than 20 service categories, from wedding venues to wedding florists, based on their professional achievements from the previous year.

While many industry award winners are selected by the host organization, the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards® winners are determined solely based on reviews from real newlyweds and their experiences working with Hamby Catering & Events. Award-winning vendors are distinguished for the quality, quantity, consistency and timeliness of the reviews they have received from their past clients.

“We are thrilled to celebrate such a high-caliber, committed group of professionals for the Couples’ Choice Awards’® eighth year,” said Timothy Chi, CEO, WeddingWire. “We are proud to continue to serve as the industry leader, with over 2.5 million consumer and peer reviews, and feature award-winning merchants such as Hamby Catering & Events who understands the impact reviews have on their successful businesses.”

As a Couples’ Choice Awards® winner, Hamby Catering & Events is highlighted within the WeddingWire Network, which is comprised of more than 400,000 wedding professionals globally.

Hamby Happenings: Get Hitched

Hamby Catering & Events was honored to be involved in the Get Hitched event, an LGBT wedding showcase – the first of its kind in Charleston. The event featured multiple event companies that support and welcome the legalization of same sex marriage in South Carolina. Event organizers hoped to connect LGBT couples with vendors who would openly embrace their business.

Hamby’s philosophy is to make each couple comfortable, and to provide a fun environment for them to be able to plan their big day in a stress-free way.

The showcase was held at Memminger Auditorium and allowed for an open air vibe that gave attendees freedom to mix and mingle (and of course snack on some Hamby small bites!). Guests enjoyed a variety of our most popular items including, Mini Tomato Pies, Beef Crostinis, Cucumber Spi Rolls, Hamby Tea Sandwiches, Sweet Potato Biscuits with Carolina Pit Ham, Yucca Root Chips with Edamamus, Cheese Straws and an assortment of Tarts (think Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie and Banana Pudding!).

Our booth gave guests a comfortable space to relax and chat with our Event Producers about their wedding day vision.

The day was a huge success. Our team had a blast meeting prospective clients and being a part of such an inclusive event. We couldn’t be prouder of our very own Ryan Mckenzie, who served on the Get Hitched committee (also pictured, Managing Director, Candice Wigfield and Customer Relations Representative, Sarah Ann Nunn).

Our team had the opportunity to speak to Charleston City Paper prior to the event about Hamby’s sponsorship, you can read the article here.

Real Hamby Weddings: Whitney & Cabell

Back in February, our clients, Whitney & Cabell tied the knot at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church and celebrated at the lovely Hibernian Hall. Fast forward to this week, and we are thrilled to see their classic wedding grace A Lowcountry Wedding’s blog. It’s such a privilege to be featured in one of our favorite local publications. Even luckier for us, Jennings King supplied us with even more photos from the couple’s reception that showcase their diverse menu!

Their wedding weekend began with a traditional nod to Southern culture – a rustic, oyster roast of course! Hamby also had the pleasure of catering their relaxed rehearsal dinner. It was the perfect way to welcome friends and family to Charleston!

For their reception at Hiberian Hall, Whitney & Cabell had a variety of food stations set up to please all of their guests’ tastebuds. After cocktail hour, which included Mini Tomato Pies and Chicken Salad Sandwiches to name a few, the food stations were open for guests to enjoy throughout the evening. The stations included our traditional Mini Meal Carving Station, Mashed Potato Bar, Shrimp & Grits, and a Sweet & Savory Biscuit Bar.

We had the delight of catering Whitney’s sisters wedding in 2011, so it was such a sweet surprise when her family called for our services again. With 36 years of catering under our belt, we feel privileged when our families become repeat clients and those recommendations allow us to serve multiple generations. It is an honor to become an integral part of many family celebrations and parties in the Lowcountry. To see more details from Whitney & Cabell’s wedding, and all its frame-able moments, click here.

Real Hamby Weddings: Laura & Tripp

Our inbox just got a whole lot prettier thanks to photographer, Elisabeth Millay. She recently shared photos with us from a rehearsal dinner we catered back in March. The dinner took place at Society Hall with 70 of the couple’s closest friends and relatives.

Guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres prior to the sit down dinner.  Small bites like our Thai Cucumber ‘Spi’ Roll with Chili Lime Vinaigrette and Cheddar and Bacon Grit Cakes were among the selections. After taking their seats, the guests enjoyed a refined menu featuring Lamb en Chemise, Parisian Potatoes and English Pea Ravioli that complimented the sophisticated setting. Along with the menu, Hamby Event Producer, Cacky Bastian, coordinated the elegant tableware through Snyder Rentals.

The guests finished up the evening by devouring our Praline Cups with Fresh Berries & White Chocolate Mousse. The perfect dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth! See below for images from the lovely affair. Our best wishes to the couple, Laura & Tripp.

Jenny & Dan_August 13th_Founders Hall

Jenny & Dan’s August 13th wedding reception at Founders Hall was captured perfectly by Juliet Elizabeth in all its yellow and grey glory. Every detail was swoon-worthy, including the bride’s cascading pearl necklaces; you may remember Jenny’s bridal portraits. Included below are a few details coordinated by Hamby Catering & Events, including the delicious food (with Lowcountry shrimp & grits), the cake by Ashley Bakery, the floral arrangements by Lisa Ferguson and rentals by Snyder. One of our favorite details was the bird nest cake topper with “Jenny & Dan” personalized “eggs”!

Like the bride, we give this fabulous wedding a thumbs up! Make sure to check out the last image in the series. 🙂

And most importantly, thank you to Juliet Elizabeth for these beautiful images!
