Born and raised in the Philadelphia Metro area, Cheryl developed her love for cooking in the Italian and Irish communities she grew up in, where everyone’s mother had a secret red sauce recipe and would never divulge Sunday cake dessert ingredients, other than “love.”

Cheryl moved to Charleston in 2008 to attend The Art Institute of Charleston, where she graduated with an Associates in Culinary Sciences and a concentration in Baking and Pastry. From there she traversed the Lowcountry, searching for her niche. From the pastry line at Charleston Grill, morning bagel baker for multiple downtown Charleston locations, and eventually shifting to front of the house operations, where she became skilled as a server, bartender, and eventually general manager of a popular downtown Charleston restaurant; on this journey, Cheryl found that her calling is pastry. The culmination of this search landed her at a luxury venue group with on-premise catering, where she perfected the art of the wedding cake under the guidance and teaching of their Executive Pastry Chef. Wedding cakes remain Cheryl’s passion to this day.

Cheryl joined Team Hamby in 2021 as Executive Pastry Chef and plans to reignite the Hamby Pastry Department, including creating in-house cake masterpieces for Hamby clients. In her time away from Hamby, Cheryl is the overachieving mamma that volunteers to bake all of her daughter Sunshine’s holiday treats and take home goodies at her school every single year. Sunshine remains her inspiration for many of her delicious culinary creations!
