Sam Richardson

Sam brings a wealth of experience to Hamby as a 30 year veteran of the hospitality industry. He has lived in Charleston for over 25 years and has a keen sense for the city and its people. As General Manager, Sam uses his skills and expertise to support and oversee Culinary Operations, Retail Operations, and Event Execution. In addition to these responsibilities, Sam has a particular focus on growing revenue, increasing efficiency and improving logistics.

If you live in Charleston or have visited, then you are probably familiar with some of the most recent restaurants he has managed, including Fleet Landing, The Boathouse and Carolina’s. Sam credits his success to consistent training, commitment to quality, attention to detail, employee engagement and empowerment, all accompanied with the proper mixture of hard work and fun. “When we do all these things it empowers us to deliver an outstanding experience to the client and their guests. In the end, an outstanding guest experience is my true passion”.

Sam joined Team Hamby in early 2020, immediately prior to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. During the year that followed, Sam earned the nickname “Sam the Swiss Army Knife”, due to his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. His versatility and quiet calm have proved invaluable to the Hamby team.
